Library

The library began its life in 1954 with the Center for Studies on Electronic Computing (CSCE) of the University of Pisa (later IEI-CNR) and is thus one of the oldest ICT Libraries in Europe and probably the most complete Italian library in the field.
Library material includes books, journals and digital resources such as on-line journals, institutional and thematic repositories, bibliographic databases etc. It contains over 13000 books, 800 serial publications and gives access to an increasing number of digital resources.
The Library also preserves the ISTI historical and current Institutional Archives.
The Library Information Systems Group coordinates, develops and maintains the on-line services of the Library and of the Main Library of the Research Area in which it is integrated.

Access to the Library

The ISTI Library is located in the Campus Main Library Building in Pisa, via Moruzzi 1.

Access to the library is free to all visitors. Users with disabilities can physically enter the library by the lift at entrance 7. External users must sign in on the record book located at the circulation desk. The Library is authorized to ask for details such as user's name and current address and to store the information in order to secure the library stock.

The Library is open from Monday to Friday, excluding local and national holidays. Hours: Mon-Thurs 9.00 - 18.00, Fri 9.00-13.00.

Books and journal issues of the last 5/10 years are available in the library. Back issues are located in archive rooms and are available on request.

Almost all materials are available on open shelves for self-retrieval. The users are strongly recommended not to shelve used materials themselves but leave them on the trolleys.

Library catalogs and digital resources are available on-line using the computers in the main room.
