Abstract

The primary goal of this ongoing project is to strengthen communities, especially local communities, through utilizing the potential of smartphones. One key element of the system is audio based community media (low power radio station/small community media framework). Other modules include social carpooling and easy-to-access markets for agricultural and second-hand products.
Data processing is a key element of the system and of the related research. For playlist generation audio and textual data processing and mining are required. For the information services part, spatio-temporal data is of primary importance. The final goal is engineering social networks, where network data plays an important role.
