Abstract
The IAIA project aims to promote collaboration and innovation among startups and SMEs in five neighboring territories (Tuscany, Sardinia, Corsica, Liguria, and VAR) between Italy and France. Through a data-driven and artificial intelligence-based approach, the project intends to create a matchmaking platform and promote open innovation opportunities, with the goal of developing collaborative projects to access public calls and/or develop product, process, and organizational eco-innovation projects.
The Common Challenge of the Program Area Addressed by the Project Startups and SMEs in the INTERREG IT-FR territories are not sufficiently competitive and face difficulties in adopting open innovation, particularly in cross-border sectors such as nautical shipbuilding, biotechnology, and renewable energies. The project addresses this challenge by creating a market for emerging technologies from open innovation, facilitating the meeting of demand and supply of technologies, products, and services related to public tenders.
The project aims to promote collaboration and innovation among startups and SMEs in the five neighboring territories. Using artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, the project will create a matchmaking platform to facilitate access to public tenders and promote open innovation. This will improve the awareness and competitiveness of startups and SMEs, accelerating innovation and facilitating eco-innovation.
The innovativeness of the project can be summarized in the following points:
1.Use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to foster the creation of new collaborative projects.
2.Linking demand and supply of technologies and public tenders.
3.Supporting startups and SMEs in eco-innovation and tender participation.
4.Replicability of the approach in other territories and contexts.
The project aims to collect data from various sources (i.e. surveys, interviews, and websites) in order to create a digital representation of the SMEs in the territory equipped with metadata describing them in terms of operational area, capacity and skills. That information will allow the creation of an interconnected graph linking the SMEs on different dimensions. This will be the basis for the development of AI algorithms for the matchmaking platform. The result will be able to describe the complexity of the SMEs ecosystem in the cross-border territories and will also facilitate the participation of SMEs in public tenders. Through itinerant focus groups and training activities, the project promotes open innovation and collaboration among companies. Cross-border cooperation between Italy and France is essential to maximize the effectiveness of innovative initiatives and create a prosperous environment for startups and SMEs in both countries.
