Abstract

As previously demonstrated, given the right incentives and explanations users are more likely to adopt a recommended product (application, item etc.). In this work we wish to determine what are the most influential factors in application adoption for mobile, when a user is faced with several recommendations. In order to do so, we exploit the mobile log retrieved by Aviate, over a period of 3 months, in confirming or infirming the hypothesis regarding application adoption. We investigate features like brand popularity, the frequency of use of an application, the popularity of an application in the certain area - near user's workplace, home or city, if it belongs to the categories the users is most interested in or if that application is trending. When explaining a certain recommendation we have certain limitations, we cannot present the user with all motivations available, so deriving the most influential ones is essential and can directly influence the adoption.
