Abstract
This talk will present insights and innovations from a series of recent and ongoing research projects at Kingâ??s College London. Beyond the analysis and modelling of SoBigData, our highly interdisciplinary research focuses on the processes of datafication, particularly the social, cultural, political and economic dimensions. Our projects hypothesise SoBigData as at the new key matrix of power-knowledge relations and explore how we can increase collective agency through greater access to and critical and creative use of the data we generate.
Here is a short bio:
Dr. Mark Coté is a leading researcher in the social, cultural, political and economic dimensions of big data. He has received numerous research grants from UK and European research councilsas both PI and CI, partnering with the Open Data Institute, British Library, the University of Aarhus, and many others. He has presented his research at the Royal Society, British Academy, Transmediale, the International Communication Association, and the Berlin Institut for Auslandsbeziehungen, among others. His work has been published widely across leading journals including Big Data &Society.
