ArchAIDE concentrates on the design, implementation and thorough evaluation of an innovative end-to-end system for digitizing sherds directly on the field, supporting archaeologist in interpretation and recognition, and finally in producing the required documentation (stored in proper archives). The system promises to innovate substantially the practice of on-the-field archaeology (speeding up the analysis and documentation process, reducing the required level of expertise). It also represents a major technological breakthrough that will further consolidate and strengthen Europe's scientific and technological leadership in a market that could show a strong and stable growth for professional applications.
